AFRICAN DANCE WORKSHOP

com ALENA BOUDA

percussão: Sérgio Almeida e Michael Delterra

The workshop connects traditional West African dance and playing the base drums called dunduns. This allows us to feel the rhythm better as we dance and play at the same time. We will focuse on relaxing our minds, opening it for the rhythm and letting our bodies tell the old stories through the west African choreography. African dance projects many different topics of our everyday lives. Our aim is not just to DO the movements, but to connect it with expression. The goal is not to repeat the same movement patterns over and over like we are used to, but to extend our „movement vocabulary“. The workshop will be accompanied by two live drummers and is open to people of all ages (able to dance J), genders and dance levels. You can bring your own base drum and sticks or you can borrow one of ours for 2 euros.
